Other Important / Interesting Dylan News
Here are some other stories that got major press attention, some with lasting impact, and also reflect key elements of Bob Dylan 2022.
The WSJ/Jeff Slate Interview
In his only interview of 2022 Mr. Dylan spoke to Jeff Slate (Musician, Bob Fan and Writer of the Bootleg Series Vol 14 Liner Notes) and covered a lot of ground with Bob riffing on subjects ranging from the pandemic to technology to religion and many more. This isn't the old sarcastic Bob, but the late-period man who mixes obscure quotes, revealing insights, broad commentary, and at least a pinch of razzle-dazzle style BS. Certainly this one will be quoted and referred back to forever.

Dylan Sells His Catalog
After selling his Copyright Catalog in late 2020, early 2022 brought the news the Bob Dylan's master recordings had been sold to Sony Music Entertainment. Another $500M give or take, and Bob caps off the business end of his career as impressively as all the other elements of it.
Time Out Of Mind 25th / Bootleg Series 17 Announced
One of the many inflection points in Dylan's career had it's 25th Anniversary this year, which put it back into the spotlight - most notably for the announcement of a new 5CD / 10LP Edition of The Bootleg Series that will give us a remixed version of the album, two disks of previously unreleased outtakes, a live disk, plus all the extras that were already on Tell Tale Signs. Supply chain issues pushed the release to Jan '23 but we got one full track and some snippets (plus the word from Greil Marcus) to assure us this is going to be great.

Heaven's Door Whiskey Releases
Only a subset of Dylan's fans take notice, but the Whiskey company Bob launched a few years ago is also killing it, with an expanding set of releases, a growing string of awards, and even a new version of their very own Bootleg Series.

We're several years into productions of this Bob Dylan / Connor McPherson play built around all Bob Dylan songs, and it was on Broadway (again) in 2022, got 7 Tony nominations (1 win), and touring companies started taking the show around the world to rave reviews. Before it left Broadway that cast was filmed, so we're likely to get the video version in 2023.
